　　總統府公共事務室今天表示，為響應以色列Karkur小學挑戰金氏世界紀錄「世界最大的書」活動，陳總統水扁先生應邀提供書面祝福，讓這本集結世界各國領袖對全球兒童祝福信函的「大書」能順利完成。
　　公共事務室指出，以色列Karkur社區小學六年級學生計劃挑戰金氏世界紀錄「世界最大的書」，刻正收集來自世界各國之領袖等致全球兒童的祝福信函，書本完成後將由聯合國秘書長呈贈金氏世界紀錄總部，藉此喚起世界對兒童之關注。該校學生並於上(94)年12月函盼陳總統響應此一計畫。
　　公共事務室進一步指出，鑒於此活動甚具意義，並符合我國人道立國與積極參與國際社會之精神，總統欣然允諾，並已致函肯定該校學生平日熱心公益、關懷社會之善行，同時鼓勵他們繼續努力，將愛心散播到世界每個角落。
　　總統信函內容為：
　　親愛的孩子，
　　謝謝你們去年十二月的來信，和我分享你們的想法和意見。我很高興知道世界上有像你們一樣，懂得付出和幫助別人的孩子。你們展現了高度的人道精神，這世界很幸運能有像你們這樣的人存在。
　　我們生活在同一個地球村，語言不是障礙，距離不是問題。在同一個天空下，我們為自己和未來的世世代代編織夢想。我們是創造美好世界的夥伴。只要願意付出、關懷別人，我們就能改變這個世界。
　　希望你們能繼續發揚貴校的精神，持續散播愛心到世界各個角落。相信你們的努力，將鼓勵其他人一起熱心奉獻，為打造一個更好、更和諧的社會而努力。
　　德蕾莎修女曾說過：人人把愛當做一種工作，把愛的光輝發揮到日常生活裡，這世界就有和平。我願與大家共勉---讓我們一起為兒童人權付出一己之力、願世界停止戰爭、消除疾病貧窮、遠離暴力虐待，真正的成為一個和平無紛爭、同時也有著赤子之心的大「童」世界－偉大的兒童世界！
　　英文信函內容為：

Dear Children,

　　Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with me in the letter you sent in December 2005. I am most pleased to learn that there are children around the world, like yourselves, who are seeking ways to give of themselves and help others. You have shown a great deal of humanity, and the world is fortunate to have people like you in it.

　　We live in a global village where language is no longer a barrier, nor geographical distance an issue. Under the same sky, we strive alongside one another, weaving dreams for ourselves and for future generations. We are all partners in building a better world. As long as we are willing to care for and give to others, we can always make a difference in the world.

　　I hope that you will continue to build upon your “Karkur” spirit to spread service and compassion to every corner of the world. I believe that your efforts will encourage other people to devote themselves enthusiastically to working together to establish a better and more harmonious society.

　　Mother Teresa once said that as long as we all choose love as an undertaking and carry it out in our daily lives, the world will be at peace. Let us pray that the world will no longer see war, disease, poverty, violence and abuse, and that children won’t suffer anymore. Let's also pray for a really peaceful world where all people have pure hearts as children like you do.
